Vodafone Says Would Consider Verizon Buyout (VOD)

Reuters is reporting that the board of Vodafone (NYSE: VOD) would strongly consider any offer for its 45 percent state in Verizon (NYSE: VZ) providing it added value to shareholders.

This is notable for a few reasons. First, Vodafone has been largely resistant to giving up its stake. The European company has seen an increasingly large share of its revenue coming from the American market as a tighter and more regulated European economy has squeezed its profits. Second, the deal would be huge–likely around $120 billion.

Verizon is reportedly preparing an offer of around $100 billion.
