- Updated: September 4, 2013
At the opening of the IFA tech trade show in Berlin, analyst firm, GFK says that smartphone sales around the world will reach nearly 1 billion units in 2013, according to CNET.
This would represent a year over year increase of 37 percent. Along with smartphones, 3D TVs shipments should top 59 million–an impressive 104 percent year over year increase on a device that many said was being left for dead. Tablets will see shipments of 215 million units for a 69 percent year over year increase.
This comes in the wake of yesterday’s Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) that it would hold an event on September 10 and September 11 in China.
