Apple to Unveil iPad at October Media Event
- Updated: October 5, 2014
Apple, the mega iPhone maker is getting ready for another unveiling at an October 16 media event. The iPad, scheduled to launch later this month, will reveal a few extra features announced but omitted from the September launch of the iPhone 6.
In less than two weeks, the California-based technology giant will officially launch the next generation iPad tablet. To this point, Apple has remained mum about the exact features that will be revealed but according to a reputable source, the information and date are accurate.
Several different reports have come out during the week, suggesting that the new generation iPad will boast a Touch ID fingerprint sensor, which would be highly beneficial for enterprise customers and the application, Apply Pay. However, the new iPad would not have a near-field communications (NFC) chip.
The source also states that at the October media event the new iMacs will be unveiled, which would coincide with several software updates, as well as related features previously scheduled for an October/November launch period.
Another appearance is expected by OX X Yosemite, officially known as OS X 10.10, which is the latest operating system created by Apple to be used with Mac, iMacs, and MacBooks. Reportedly, this system will be at no charge, the same thing seen with past years’ recent updates.
The new operating system will link the iPad and iPhone with Apple’s line of Macs thanks to a continuity feature named “Handoff”. This feature allows users to seamlessly switch between devices whenever connected through iCloud.
Seamlessness and productivity will be bolstered thanks to a number of new features for all of the various Apple products. This includes using Macs for cellular calling with the conduit being the iPhone 6.
Apple Pay, which is Apple’s new mobile payment service whereby the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and Apple Watch users have the ability to make payments using NFC with the device, will also launch at the October media event.
Because of several glitches pertaining to the recent release of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, Apple stock (NASDAQ: APPL) has been struggling. In yesterday’s after-hours trading, stock was slightly up 0.04% to $99.66 per share, over the downturn of 0.28% at $99.62 during regular trading hours. Apple hopes the unveiling of multiple new features in a few weeks will help give stock a significant boost.
