Apple Expected to Announce iPad in September and Leaked iPhone Images

According to a report from DigiTimes, Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) is expected to announce its fifth-generation iPad in September while the iPad mini is still receiving design changes.

The report says that because upstream suppliers are prepared for the production of the new 9.7 inch iPad, the design is most likely finalized. Along with Retina Display, the tablet is said to include a slimmer bezel design similar to the Samsung HTC’s larger sized smartphone. It will also have one LED tube instead of two which will aid in battery life.

In other weekend news, Techdy, a relatively unknown company that launched in April, published what it said was leaked images of Apple’s new budget iPhone. The photos were widely published on numerous well-known websites. Later, Appleinsider noted that the images were likely fakes. It cited the lack of power and volume buttons on the outside but pictures of its inner circuitry included the buttons.

It also noted that another phone that it advertised at the bottom of the post used the same outer shell as the reported leaked iPhone. Finally, it noted that there was little reason to believe that a relatively unknown site without a history of leaked Apple product images would have access to the device.
