Intel Wants to Record Every Television Show and Store it in the Cloud (INTC)

According to the Wall Street Journal, Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) has a 350 person team working on an idea that would record every television show and store it in the cloud for three days. This includes all local, national, and international programming. With an Intel set-top box, users could download and store the programs of their choosing to watch later.

This, according to analysts, is more evidence that the current TV model of bundling programming and making consumers pay for channels they’ll never watch is likely to be replaced in the not-so-distant future.

As it stands, Intel will have an uphill battle trying to negotiate content rights for this service but analysts see that changing. Companies like Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL), Google (NASDAQ: GOOG), and others are developing technology that will soon overtake the traditional TV model.
