ADP Says US Added 213,000 Jobs in September
- Updated: October 1, 2014
According to the latest report from ADP private payrolls in the US grew by 213,000 in September. Expectations were for the report to show 205,00o jobs had been added in September which would have represented roughly the same number as the 204,000 in August.
“September’s jobs added number marks the sixth straight month of employment gains above 200,000,” said Carlos Rodriguez, president and chief executive officer of ADP. “It’s a positive sign for the economy to see the 200,000-plus trend continue.”
The ADP report comes ahead of Friday’s nonfarm payrolls report.
Many economists note that other labor market indicators have been positive recently, including initial jobless claims that have fallen to prerecession levels, and expect the government to revise up the August figure.
