BREAKING- Palo Alto Networks Spiking on Sourcefire Acquisition

Shares of Palo Alto Networks, Inc. (NYSE: PANW) are up nearly 6 percent in pre-market trading after news broke that Cisco (NASDAQ: CSCO) was acquiring Sourcefire (NASDAQ: FIRE).

Palo Alto Networks is known as one of the newer cybersecurity that has taken market share from older tech firms like Cisco. Palo Alto Netorks, along with Sourcefire and others, have responded faster to the security needs of newer technologies like social media and video–an area where Cisco has fallen behind.

This morning’s spike could be on speculation that Palo Alto is the next takeover target.
